Members and guests of the East Allegheny Business Association learned a little more about autism at the group’s May meeting.
Guest speakers Erica Zimmerman, director of research referrals and outreach for Autism Pittsburgh, and Yasmin Polanco, assistant director, talked about the history of the organization and the role it plays in educating autistic children.
The EABA also heard about the hard work of Colin Aland, a local student, who will be competing in the national SkillsUSA competition next month in Atlanta. Colin, an East Allegheny High School and Forbes Road Career & Technology Center, is a state champion in auto body repair.
During the meeting, the Turtle Creek chapter of the Rotary Club gave Colin $300 toward the cost of the trip to Atlanta.
At its June 5 meeting, the EABA will host a speed networking event.
